Microsemi LX3301A: Inductive Sensor Processing IC

The LX3301A is a high performance IC for inductive sensing systems. Inductive sensing is a highly reliable contactless method for measuring mechanical motion. Based upon LVDT principles, inductive sensing is robust and highly immune to environmental interference. Unlike Hall-effect sensors, inductive sensors do not require a magnet. The LX3301A is a complete processing system for and inductive sensor, providing the drive circuit, PGA, ADC, signal processing, and host interface. The LX3301A provides 12-bit resolution analog output and 13-bit resolution PWM output, with processing data rates to 2ksps. The IC includes internal EEPROM which allows the customer to optimize the configuration and performance to their specific sensor design. Designed to support a wide variety of measurement application including linear, angular, rotary, and proximity; the LX3301A is automotive certified to AEC-Q100 grade 1 (-40 to 125C) and documented for compliance with ISO26262.
