Silicon Labs EFM8™ Laser Bee 8-bit Microcontrollers

Silicon Labs has introduced a new microcontroller family that delivers the highest analog performance and peripheral integration in the 8-bit market. The latest addition to Silicon Labs’ EFM8 MCU portfolio, the new EFM8LB1 Laser Bee MCUs combine a high-speed analog-to-digital converter (ADC), multiple digital-to-analog converters (DACs), a highly accurate temperature sensor, two comparators and a 72 MHz 8051 core with up to 64 kB of flash.

Laser Bee MCUs deliver their powerful analog sting in a tiny 3 mm x 3 mm QFN package, making them a good fit for space-constrained, performance-intensive applications such as optical modules, test and measurement instrumentation, industrial control equipment and smart sensors.


  • Pipelined 8-bit C8051 core with up to 72 MHz maximum operating frequency
  • One 14-bit, 900 ksps Analog to Digital converter (ADC) with up to 20 channels
  • Up to four 12-bit, 200 ksps Digital to Analog converter (DAC)
  • Integrated temperature sensor with ±3°C (-20°C to 85°C) accuracy
  • Two low-current analog comparators with build-in 6-bit DAC
  • Priority crossbar and configurable logic units for flexible pin functions
  • 16-bit general-purpose timers
